Della Cunningham

Della Cecile Theriot Cunningham, age 93, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020. She was a resident of Theriot, La.

Della is survived by her daughters, Sandra Patterson and companion John Pitre, Gena Aston and husband Tommy, Peggy Franks and husband Kevin; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cunningham; grandchildren, Paula Patterson, Susan Porche, Wendy Giroir, Paige Pierron, Victoria French, Sharon Cunningham, Christopher Aston, Todd Aston, Beau Aston, Chesley Lirette, Kyle Franks, Brett Franks and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and constant companion, her beloved dog Sweetie.

Della is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Louis Cunningham, Jr.; son, Terry Cunningham; parents, Frank and Alida Theriot; siblings, Camille, John, Gilbert “Nick,” Walton, Pearl, Velma, Norris “Pete,” William “Bill,” Louis, Harold “T-Boy.”

Della was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong homemaker with many hobbies including painting, quilting and bowling. She was an avid duck hunter in her prime. She was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church and a member of the KC Auxiliary and volunteered for many years at the Dularge fairs. Many may remember her from her time working at the Dularge Marina making poboys and snacks. She had a green thumb and loved gardening and the outdoors. Della was a huge New Orleans Saints fan even through the bad years.

Della was a direct descendent of Eloi Theriot who settled the community of Theriot/Dularge.

Due to the recent health concerns and the restrictions in accordance with limited gatherings, the funeral services for Mrs. Della Cunningham will be held privately by the immediate family. In lieu of flowers friends are encouraged to view and leave a memory of Mrs. Della Cunningham for the family on our website.

A memorial for Della Cunningham will be held at a later date.
