We regretfully announce the passing of Deirdre Rhodes Fontenot, 49, of Houma, Louisiana. Deirdre passed away on September 17,2021, after a short illness.
Deirdre was born in New Orleans and raised in Houma by Gerrie Bonnette Rhodes Sanders and the late Charles Buddy Rhodes. She grew up with her brother, Brandon Rhodes.
Deirdre married Jason Fontenot on September 23, 1995. They had one son, Justin Martin Fontenot, who tragically died in infancy. Because Deirdre suffered with kidney problems from a young age, Jason donated a kidney to her in 2002. Deirdre and Jason were, unfortunately, separated at the time of her passing.
Deirdre only recently sought and found her birth mother, Corine Lecompte Ellis. She also discovered a half-sister, Katie Krohn and niece, Aubrey Krohn.
Deirdre worked hard, was very proud of her job, and loved her work family at Kinetica.
Deirdre is survived by Jason Fontenot; Gerrie Rhodes Sanders, her mother; Brandon Rhodes and Aimee Barber Rhodes, her brother and sister-in-law; Victoria Rhodes, her niece; Max Rhodes, her nephew; Corine Lecompte Ellis, her birth mother; Katie Krohn, her half-sister; Aubrey Krohn, her niece; Christine Clause, her mother-in-law; James Fontenot, her father-in-law; Kyle Clause, Brian Clause, Jeremy Fontenot, and Jenifer Fontenot, her brothers and sisters-in-law; her dog Bailey Lu; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
There will be a short memorial service at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma on Saturday October 2, 2021 with visitation from 1-2pm and a mass from 2pm to 3pm. If anyone would like to honor Deirdre’s legacy, please consider making a donation to Catholic Charities or the American Kidney Fund in Deirdre’s name.
