David "Noony" James Duplantis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David "Noony" James Duplantis, aged 74, who left us on July 20, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Houma, Louisiana. Born on July 3, 1952, David dedicated 24 years of his life as a District Chief for the Houma Fire Department, where he diligently served the community with bravery and commitment.

David was not only a devoted fire chief but also a skilled carpenter, building several homes with his own hands. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his love for working outdoors. His passion for yard work brought beauty to his surroundings and joy to those who knew him.

David is survived by his son, Seth Duplantis (Candy); grandchildren, Isaac and Leah; brothers, Donald J. Duplantis (Kathy), Camille J. Duplantis, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Ann Buquet (Chicky), Sue Margaret Duplantis.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Camille Duplantis, Sr. and Irene Deroche Lajaunie.

A memorial service will be held in honor of David at Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.

In this time of loss, we remember and celebrate David's life, his service to the community, and the love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed.
