Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Francis Mary Samanie, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cherished friend, and a bright spirit who touched the lives of those all around her. Darlene was born on December 10, 1956, in Houma, Louisiana and entered her eternal rest peacefully on September 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Darlene was an amazing caregiver and made everyone feel valued. Her loving nature and generous spirit were hallmarks of her character as she built lasting relationships with everyone she met. She was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to brighten any room with her presence. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support provided a foundation for generations, shaping lives with her unconditional love and wisdom.

In celebration of Darlene's life, a Visitation will be held in honor of her remarkable life on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Chauvin Funeral Home in the Magnolia Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00 p.m.Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Darlene are invited to honor her memory and share their stories.

To cherish Darlene's memories are her beloved children; Evans Toups, Jr., Troy Toups, Sr. (Samantha), Angel Toups, Amy Bijeaux (Warren) and Alexis Neal (Jacob); her cherished grandchildren; Toby, Sierra, Drake, Austin, Heather, Elizabeth, Jasmine, Thomas, Summer, Trey, Monica, Lindaysha, Tyrel and Leroy; her adored 18 great-grandchildren, her sister's; Cheryl Samanie (Bryan) and Judy Cosby (Roy) and her brother, Michael Samanie (Brenda).

Darlene is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Ivy Samanie Jr. and Ruth Porche Samanie, her sister's; Brenda Martin, Janet Reiley, and Joy Samanie, and her brother's; Wayne Samanie and Chris Samanie, her grandchildren; Troy Toups, Jr. and Kylie Toups, her nephew, Jason Riley and her beloved lifelong best friend, Melinda Trosclair.

As we gather to remember Darlene, let us celebrate the beautiful moments we shared and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Her spirit will forever live on in the laughter of loved ones and the kindness she inspired in all of us. We invite everyone to join us in honoring her remarkable life and the joy she brought into the world.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the United Cerebal Palsy Foundation in memory and honor of her nephew, Jason Riley.
