Daniel "Danny" Lennep, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, with his beloved companion, Izzy, by his side.
Born in New Orleans and raised in Houma by his parents, Murray and Ruth Lennep, Danny graduated from Vandebilt Catholic High School in 1973, where he played football and baseball. He spent nearly 50 years in the oilfield industry before retiring in 2019. After living in Houma for many years, he later spent nearly three decades in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where he became a local and active member of the surfing community. He most recently lived in Marietta, Georgia, before returning home to Houma. As a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, he remained proud of his family's lasting connection to the parish.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, love of surfing and gardening, and his gift for conversation. Danny never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Above all, he cherished his family and never missed an opportunity to speak proudly of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Danny was especially devoted to his faithful companion, Izzy, and shared a cherished bond with Dax and the late Sadie, who brought him endless happiness and were loved as members of the family.
Danny is survived by his children, Dylan, Derek, and Dorian Lennep; his grandchildren, Bailey Lennep and wife Kate, and Destinee Dardar; and his great-grandson and namesake, Daniel Lennep; his stepchildren, Phoebe McClain and her partner, Andrew, and Amber Ramos; six step-grandchildren, Jezzy, Lucas, Kade, Serenity, Maeve, and Thea; and three step-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Dylan Jr., and Waylon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Ruth Lennep; his brother, Allen Lennep; and his stepson, Smokey McClain.
A celebration of Danny's life will be held on Saturday, June 20, at The Landing in Pensacola Beach, Florida.
