Curtis Paul Babin Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 12, 2025, in his hometown of Houma, Louisiana, where he was born on August 26, 1946.
He was married for a remarkable 60 years to his beloved wife, Judy, who was his partner and confidante through all of life's adventures. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories, particularly during cherished trips to the Smoky Mountains. Curtis found his greatest joy in being a grandfather; his grandkids truly were his life.
A proud Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Curtis held a profound love for his country. He transitioned from a career in the oil and gas industry to pursue his dream of commercial fishing. Embracing his Cajun roots, he built his own boat to go shrimping on local waters. A true outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
You always knew where you stood with Curtis. His direct honesty and genuine nature were hallmarks of his personality, making him a good father and a cherished friend to many.
Curtis's journey through life was greatly shaped by his close bond with his grandparents, Glaise and Rose Babin, who were like second parents to him. Their influence carried him through each chapter, reminding him of the importance of family and community.
Curtis is survived by his wife Judy Babin; his sons Monte Babin, Todd Babin (Carmen), sisters Susan Dale (Jim), Rena Shoffner and grandkids Taylor Castille (Seth), Tait Babin, Tyler Babin, Reanna Babin, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Curtis Babin Sr. and Ertha Babin, paternal grandparents Glaise and Rose Babin, maternal grandparents Trazille and Elodie Eschete, brother Glaise Babin, and brother-n-law Tom Shoffner.
To honor Curtis's life and legacy, a visitation will be held in Dauphine Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on December 20, 2025, at 9:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
Curtis will be significantly missed, yet his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
