Charlie was born in Houma, Louisiana, on April 19, 1952, and was the oldest of 11 children. He graduated from Vandebilt Catholic High School in 1970, where he was a star basketball and baseball player. He went on to attend Nicholls State University, where he earned a business degree, and later dedicated over 40 years of service to Gulf Island Fabrication as Chief Estimator.
Charlie is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Jill; his two daughters, Kate Becnel (Charles) and Sara Darsey; and his four grandchildren: Isabelle Darsey, and Elise, David, and Mary Becnel of Baton Rouge.
He is also survived by his nine siblings:
Joan (Dave) Lyon;
Ann (Terry) Smith;
Renee (Donald) Broussard;
Kathleen (Billy) Mooring;
Danny (Winnie) Darsey;
Paul (Rhonda) Darsey;
Jean (Richard) Traigle;
Brian (Bridget) Darsey; and
Julie (Bronson) Keese.
In addition to his siblings, Charlie is survived by his sisters-in-law, Peggy Darsey and Jackie Plessala, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life defined by kindness. Friends and family describe him as a quiet, kind, and gentle man who loved talking about any and all kinds of sports. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
