Carolyn Brown, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and dedicated cancer research nurse, passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on December 14, 1953, in Houma, LA, Carolyn's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family and an exceptional career that made a difference in the lives of countless individuals.

Married for 48 wonderful years to her beloved husband, Michael G. Brown, Carolyn built a loving home filled with laughter and warmth.

Carolyn began her academic journey at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, where she initially studied horticulture. However, her deep passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing. After obtaining her nursing degree, Carolyn embarked on an accomplished 20-year career in cancer research, working alongside some of the top researchers in the field. Her professional path took her from Nashville, TN, to Columbia, SC, and finally back to her roots in Houma, LA, to be closer to her family.

Beyond her professional achievements, Carolyn was known for her big heart, generous spirit, and culinary talents. Her kitchen was a haven where classic Cajun dishes came to life, each meal crafted with love and imbued with special flavors that brought friends and family together.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Michael G. Brown; her daughter Angela Claire Brown; her sister Toe Neil; and her brother Tommy Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard Patterson and Marian Patterson.
