Obituary

Calloway Herman Jones, a resident of Houma born November 15, 1945, gained his wings on June 15, 2026, at the age of 80. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected public servant passed away surrounded by the love of his family. His life was defined by dedication, service, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Francis #2 Cemetery.

Calloway proudly served his community as a firefighter and retired Lieutenant with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated 30 years of service. Throughout his career, he was known for his commitment, leadership, and willingness to protect and serve others.

Above all, Calloway cherished his family. He shared a beautiful marriage of 58 years with the love of his life, Linda Jones. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Jones; his daughters, Stacey Jones (Tony Adams) and Tracey Jones; and his son, Chad Jones (Teresa Allen). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Nikki Burgess, Brittany Burgess, Tiffany Hebert, Trey Hebert, Chase Jones (Courtney Gautreaux), and Kaeden Jones; and his adored great-grandchildren, Jace Verdin (Emily Prejeant), Amiyah Verdin, Brileigh Lang, Briyah Lang, Xaziver Hebert, Jazelynn Hebert, Jasper Hebert, Everleigh Verdin, Jaezleigh Verdin, Harper Jones, Cole Jones, Hayden Henry and Kaylen Henry, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Jones, his mother, Libby Jones; his brother, Steve Jones; and his sister, Sharlie Pequeno.

When Calloway wasn't serving his community, he enjoyed spending time with his family, trying his luck at the casino, and taking cruises with those he loved most. He never passed up an opportunity to relax with a margarita in hand -- always with salt on the rim - and a smile on his face. His sense of humor, wisdom, and love for life touched everyone who knew him.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on through the family he treasured so deeply. Calloway will be remembered not only for the lives he protected and the years he served, but for the countless memories he created with those he loved.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Haydel Memorial Hospice and Dr. Russell Henry for their compassionate care, support, and dedicated service during Calloway's final days. Your kindness and professionalism brought comfort to both Calloway and his family and will always be deeply appreciated.

He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
