It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Burton Aaron Patton Jr., lovingly known as Aaron, who left this world on June 8, 2026, in Houma, Louisiana. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, on December 27, 1955, Aaron lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He would have turned 71 this year, and his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him.
A man of the outdoors, Aaron was known for his love of hunting deer, ducks, squirrels, and rabbits. He cherished the camaraderie of his friends during these adventures, often coming home with new friendships made.
He began his commercial and residential painting company in 1992, after years of experience offshore and in construction. This endeavor allowed him to express his creativity and build lasting relationships in the community.
Aaron's Mississippi accent was as distinctive as his warm smile; once he met you, he would remember you for life. He enjoyed the simple pleasures, whether it was spending time with his beloved dog Dixie, sipping coffee with friends at the local truck stop and paint store or cheering on Alabama football, except of course when they played LSU.
Aaron is survived by his beloved wife Laurie Portier Patton, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of companionship. Together, they forged a life rich in love and laughter, creating countless cherished memories. He leaves behind his daughter Hilary Patton, who carries on his legacy, and his adored grandchildren, Drake Smith and Harley Smith, who brought immense joy to his life. Aaron is also survived by his sisters: Judy Cuevas (H.J.), Goldie Durian, Doris Fore, and Linda Thurman, who will remember him fondly for his warmth and humor.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Burton Aaron Patton Sr. and Vada Barrett Saucier, as well as his beloved son Brandon Portier. He was also reunited with his brothers Frank Patton and Roy Switzer, and his sisters Christine Miller, Georgia O'Connor, Frances Garrett, and Pat Patton.
During this time of remembrance, we invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Aaron's life. Funeral services will be held at a date to be announced, where we will gather to share stories, laughter, and the joy he brought into our lives.
