Obituary

Ashby William Pettigrew, III, age 81, a native of Houma and resident of Lafayette, La., passed away on September 29, 2026.

Ashby is survived by his wife, Myra Pettigrew; his son, Dr. Ashby William Pettigrew, IV and his wife, Megan Pettigrew; his daughter, Courtney Alicia Pettigrew; his grandchildren, Alicia Ross, Abbie Pettigrew and Ashby William Pettigrew, V; his brother, John Pettigrew, and his wife, Linda Pettigrew; his sisters, Gretchen Murray and Nita Grace Pettigrew; and his nieces and nephews, John Pettigrew Jr., Nathan Pettigrew, Kelly Peterson, Bridget Miller, Brent Womack, Scott Womack, Renee Womack, Molly Bozzo and Thomas Bunnell.

Ashby was preceded in passing by his parents, Ashby William Pettigrew Jr. and Nita Pettigrew; and his sister Kathleen, Womack.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering in honor of Ashby on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Chauvin Funeral Home, in Chapel Dauphine, from 10:00a.m. until 12:00p.m.

Ashby enjoyed a long and successful career as an Architectural Hardware Consultant and was well respected throughout his profession. A dedicated member of his community, he was actively involved with the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, and the Boy Scouts of America, where he was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for his outstanding service to youth. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and tennis, and cherished the friendships and memories made through those activities. His commitment to service, strong work ethic, and love for family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
