Alvin Bourg

Alvin John Bourg, 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 9:20am.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00am until service time. Ministry services will begin following visitation at 11:00am.  Burial will take place at after services in St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Myrna Eschete Bourg; children, Johnathon Bourg, Stefen Bourg (Kim Murphy), Toni Gautreaux; grandchildren, Westley Bourg, John Stokes, Madison Stokes, Bennet Bourg, Margot Maloz; sisters, Catherine Bergeron (the late, Dale), Brenda Fuchs (the late, Freddy), Mary Zeringue (Ray), Alice Bowser (Dwayne)  brothers, Eugene Bourg, Allen Bourg (Lois), Stephen Bourg.

Alvin is preceded by his parents, Henry Bourg and Nolian Pellegrin Bourg; sister, Aline Marie Duke.

Alvin served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. He also gave of his time as a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.   After his military service, he worked at McDermott giving over thirty years of dedication and service. While working at McDermott he traveled worldwide. After his retirement from McDermott, he began a business named, “A. J. Bourg Inspection, LLC.”  At A. J. Bourg Inspection LLC,  he worked along the side of many major companies.

Alvin enjoyed fishing. He was a skilled carpenter who would often assist family and friends with his carpentry experience. He was a dedicated to his many friends and family.

Alvin fought an eight-year battle with Defused Large B Cell Lymphoma at Mary Bird Perkins, Ochsner, and M. D. Anderson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Haydel Hospice for their care, compassion, and love.
