Joseph "Joe" Tivet, 78, a native of Houma and resident of Dulac, died at 5:52 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007.
Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in St. Eloi Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Parker Tivet of Dulac; three sons, Macliar J. Tivet Sr. and wife, Erica, of Patterson, Harry Tivet of Morgan City and Kenneth White and wife, Kathy, of Bayou Blue; six daughters, Sandra Ruble of Waterproof, Sherry Rhodes of Houma, Lisa Tivet of Grand Isle, Jackie Crappel of Houma, Nancy Ladnier of Bayou LaBatre, Ala., and Lorita Tivet of Dulac; one stepson, Kevin Parker of San Diego; two brothers, Gary Bourg and Karry Bourg of Houma; five sisters, Irene Giroir of Gibson, Eula Mae Degruise of Gray, Ramona Charpentier of Houma, Amelia Guilbeaux of Thibodaux and Jane Ella Lager of Gibson; 29 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake Tivet and Loritta Lambert Tivet; one son, Henry Joseph Tivet; four grandchildren; one brother, Bob Bourg; and one sister, Malone Bourg.
He was a retired tug-boat captain with Cenac Towing Co. and a shrimper.
He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
