Karl Phillip Toups, 94, a native of Orange Groove Plantation and resident of Houma, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by one brother, Clifton and Clara Toups of Baton Rouge; four nieces, Charlotte Bollinger, Andie Bollinger of Lockport, Barbara Hull and Pam Hoffpauer of Baton Rouge; and one nephew, Boyse Bollinger of Lockport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlette Daigle Toups; his parents, George Toups and Charlotte Morvant Toups; his stepfather, Tom Toups; and two sisters, Doris Bollinger and Bernice Dugas.
He was a retired vice president of Terrebonne and Premier Bank.
He was instrumental in the building of St. Gregory Catholic Church. He was a charter member and first grand knight of St. Gregory Knights of Columbus, a long-time member of the American Legion and VFW and was a member of the Bankers Association. He and Arlette were avid members of the Knight of Twilers Dance group.
He will be sadly missed by members of his family and friends. Thanks to the gracious sitters for their tender and loving care during his long illness.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
