Calvin Joseph Ledet, 89, a native of Bayou Blue and resident of Houma, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday Dec. 30, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald Ledet and wife, Darlene, of Pine, and Glynn Ledet and wife, Trish, of Bourg; three daughters, Gwendolyn L. Wallace and husband, Terry Sr., of Bogue Chitto, Miss., Lola L. Campbell and husband, Gary, and Susan Runkles of Houma; one brother, Walter Ledet of Kentwood; two sisters, Adele Mouton of Franklinton and Cecilia Ford of Purvis, Miss.; 23 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Pye Ledet; his parents, Clarence Ledet and Elizabeth Bergeron Ledet; one son, Daniel Ledet; one son-in-law, Larry Runkles; five brothers, Morris, Junuis, Andrew and infant twin boys; and five sisters, Alice Cassaly, Ester Gross, Beatrice Chaisson, Ruby Krause and Wilma Edwards.
He was a retired school-bus driver for Terrebonne Parish School Board and a retired crane operator for McDermott for 30 years. He worked for Fraternal Order of Police.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and trawler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
