John Peter Lirette, 80, a native of Houma, LA and a resident of Bourg, LA died Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Visitation will be Friday, December 3, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.and Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 9:30 AM until Service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his children, John P. Lirette, Jr, Michael Joseph Lirette Sr. and wife Elizabeth, Jack Joseph Lirette and wife Vicki, Samuel Joseph Lirette and wife Edith, Cindy Lirette Tabor and husband Richard "Bo", Joey Joseph Lirette, Sr. and wife Sarina, Gary Joseph Lirette and wife Pui, Tommy Joseph Lirette and wife Dawn; 18 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren sister, Violet Lirette Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pellegrin Lirette; parents, Eddie Lirette, Sr. and Celestine Fanguy Lirette; son, Timothy Joseph Lirette; grandson, Samuel Lirette; brothers, Eddie Lirette, Jr, and Percy Lirette, Jr; sisters, Leola Bergeron, Libby Benoit, Pearl St. Romain, and Eula Chauvin. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral John was the owner of Lirette's Produce and C and L Ironworks. He is a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean war. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. John will be missed by all.
