Stanley “Bernard” Whitney, 87, a native of New Orleans and a lifelong resident of Houma, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Terrebonne General Medical Center after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma with interment in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elmay Marie Domangue; eight children and spouses, Gregory Anthony Whitney and wife, Fabian Thibodeaux, Richard David Whitney and wife, Helen Herman, Patricia “Patty” Whitney (Gravois), Ella Catherine Whitney and husband, Lee LeCompte, Mary Whitney, Philip Luke Whitney and wife, Nonna Pitre, Christopher Douglas Whitney, and Elmay Marie Whitney and husband, Irvin “Buddy” Hotard; one daughter-in- law, Diane Boudreaux Bass; and two sisters, Genevieve Whitney (Mrs. Charles Darsey) and Claire Marie Whitney (Mrs. Ellis “Peter” Lottinger).
