Benny Mark Matherne, 77, a native of Bayou Blue, LA and a resident of Bourg, LA died Sunday, October 31, 2010.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM Bayou Blue Methodist Church and Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 8:00 AM until service time at Bayou Blue Methodist Church.
Funeral services, will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Bayou Blue Methodist Church and burial in Matherne Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife;
Betty Booth Matherne, of Bourg, LA;
sons, Eddie Joseph Matherne and wife Cathy, Byou Blue, LA, and Mark Matherne, Bayou Blue, LA;
daughters, Roxanne M. White, Bayou Blue, LA, Mally M. Harmon and husband Billy John Harmon, Jr., Baton Rouge, LA;
step son, Tom Posey, Jr. Houma, LA;
step daughter, Gwynelen A. Smith and husband Charles Thomas Smith, Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Cole Matherne, Christopher Matherne, Billy Harmon, III, Jacob Harmon;
great grandson, Brennan John Harmon; step grandchildren, Tom Posey, III, Tate Posey, Seth Thomas Smith, Charlyn J. Smith, Shelly Lynn Posey, Wendy (Posey);
step great grandchildren, 9;
sisters, Carol M. Breaux, Marion Hebert, Margaret Fischer, and Jean Nell Matherne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Joseph Matherne and Cecile Matherne; son in law, Calvin "Buddy" White; sisters, Genevieve Ford, Vallie B. Matherne, and Katy R. Matherne and
brothers, Teddy L. Matherne, and Bernal J. Matherne.
He worked at Macobar Drilling Fluids for 44 years as a Mud Engineer.
He was a member of Bayou Blue United Methodist Church.
He belonged to the United Methodist Men's Group and the Evangeline Hunting Club.
