Warren A. Petrie, 82, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Houma, Louisiana died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 5:50 am. Vistiation will be held Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., and Monday, October 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., with burial in St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Carol M. Petrie of Houma, LA; daughters, Sherry Allen and husband Gary Allen of Metairie, LA; sons, Eric Petrie of Houma, LA; Kurt Petrie and wife Lori Petrie of Opelousas,LA; Jon Petrie and wife Pennie Petrie of Mandeville, LA; sister, Elaine D. Petrie of New Orleans; and grandchildren, Meryn Olivier, Kyle Allen, Krista Allen, Blake Allen, Derick Petrie, Sarah Petrie, Miranda Petrie, and Sean Petrie. He was preceded in death by his brother,Earl J. Petrie. Warren was born and raised in New Orleans as the middle child of Leonie and Louis Petrie. He grew up in a loving family who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Beginning his world travels as a young man in the Merchant Marine Corp during WWII, Warren traveled around the world cultivating long-lasting friendships. Sharing his travels with family and friends was one of his special treats when he returned from his expeditions. While raising four children, Warren worked for companies such as the American Standard Corporation and J. Ray McDermott in New Orleans, Morgan City and internationally. As an innovative thinker, he developed new techniques and new equipment. He received many patents for his designs and ideas. Upon retirement, he and the love of his life decided to move nearer to his favorite “fishing hole” in Houma, LA. He enjoyed fishing in the Houma area with his children, grandchildren and his friend, Bucky. He took great comfort in having his family around him whenever possible. Children and grandchildren often brought their challenging school projects to Warren to get his advice and assistance. Giving tirelessly of his time and talents, Warren helped many community groups and schools. Constant companions of Warren were his dogs, and in particular, “Bubba” who never left his side as his health deteriorated. Following his families footsteps, Warren was a Mason. As a 50 plus year member of the Kosmos Lodge, he served as a past-master achieving the level of 3rd degree in the lodge. He was a member of the Unity Lodge in Houma. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. After visiting with his many friends and family, Warren made his “final trip”. He will be greatly missed by all who know and loved him.
