Euclis "E.J." James Trahan Jr., 70, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hebert Trahan of Houma; two sons, Euclis Trahan III and wife, Susie, of Thibodaux and David M. Trahan and wife, Pamela, of Bayou Blue; three daughters, Kathryn Byrd and husband, Kevin, of Mize, Miss., Faye Parker and Cheryl Sanford and husband, Woodie, of Houma; one sister, Estelle T. Dupre and husband, Amos, of Houma; 11 grandchildren, Shane Trahan, Jesse Trahan, Amanda Acosta, Jessica Ledet, Jacob Trahan, Michael Byrd, B.J. Byrd, Matthew Parker, Cassie Parker, T.J. Doiron and Dana Doiron; 12 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jada Trahan, Zachary Acosta, Hailey and Katelyn Ledet, Christopher, Michelle and Ethan Byrd, Keith Parker, Glenn Lawrence Jr., and Jordan and Abby Doiron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Euclie J. Trahan Sr. and Jessie Quick Trahan; one son-in-law, Ted H. Parker; and one brother, Earl Trahan.
He was a self-employed floor contractor for more than 30 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
