Gerald James Bergeron, 75, a native of Thibodaux, LA and a resident of Houma, LA died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 5:30 AM. Visitation will be Monday, July 5, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. He is survived by, wife, Helen Robichaux Bergeron; son, Shayne Bergeron; daughters, Debra Sallee and husband Walter Sallee, Denita Abel and husband Gene Abel; step sons, Clifton Lucas and wife Debbie Lucas, Robert Bascle, Terry Bascle and wife Diane; step daughters, Diane Lucas, Sandra Brister and husband David Brister, Evelyn Angeron and husband Byron Angeron; 7 Grandchildren; 11 Step Grandchildren;' 5 Great Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his former wife, Alice Bradley Bergeron; parents, Albert Bergeron, Sr. and Josie LaRose Bergeron; brothers, Albert Bergeron, Jr. and Peter Bergeron Whitton; step grandchild, Bobby Angeron and step daughter in law, Barbara Bascle. He was a retired teacher for the Terrebonne Parish School Board. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He served in the Navy for 22 years and was a deep sea diver for 20 years. He retired as a chief petty officer and served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Mason Lodge and American Legion.
