James Gale Heathcott, 75, a native of Boonville, Ark., and resident of Houma, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by one son, Willard "Sonny" Blaine Groom and wife, Denise "Deni," of Houma; two brothers, Ronnie Heathcott and wife, Amanda, of Arlington, Texas, and Royce Heathcott and wife, Nita Fae, of Waller, Texas; three sisters, Maxine H. Pritchard of Winters, Texas, Arlene H. Poland DeForr of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joyce Heathcott of Abilene, Texas; one brother-in-law, Irving DeForr of Albuquerque; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Heathcott of Killeen, Texas, Novine Heathcott of Aspermont, Texas, and Jerre Heathcott of Winters; two grandchildren, James Mickey Groom and wife, Kristi Boudreaux Groom, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Stephanie Groom Knight of Houma; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany Knight, Trent Knight of Houma and Jacob Groom of Ft. Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Maxine Beights Heathcott; his parents, Dewey R. Heathcott and Minnie May Mobley Heathcott; three brothers, Arnold Heathcott, Rass Heathcott and Ray Heathcott; and two brothers-in-law, Pat Pritchard Jr. and Lloyd Poland.
He was a retired inland and offshore manager with Dresser Atlas after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Elks, lifetime member of South Terrebonne Gator Booster Club, member of H.L. Bourgeois Booster Club and a member of Southwest Babe Ruth Booster Club.
