Verlin Julia DeHart Authement, 79, a native of Bayou Dularge and resident of Grand Caillou, died at 4:25 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. Visitation will be from 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, Carletta Dunne and husband, Dennis, Suzette DeHart and husband, Michael, Sabrina Scurlock and husband, Joe, of Dulac, and Katrina Fornof and husband, Rhett, of Park City, Utah; three brothers, Wilber DeHart, Desire "ZZ" DeHart of Bayou Dularge and Herman "Butsie" DeHart Jr. of Coteau; one sister, Evelyn D. Domangue of Houma; six grandchildren, Gypsy Marie DeHart Thompson and husband, Timmy, Brett Michael Dunne and wife, Nicole Olivier Dunne, Dakota Joseph Scurlock, Devyn Joseph Fornof, Parker William Fornof and Tayler Anne Fornof; six great-grandchildren, Jace William Dunne, Ashley Elizabeth Dunne, Sadie Kathryn Thompson, Haley Julia Thompson, Courtney Lynn Dunne and Kylie Michelle Dunne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse Joseph Authement Jr.; her parents, Herman DeHart Sr. and Maggie Lovell DeHart; one son, Alphonse Joseph Authement III; four brothers, Raymond, Willis, Irvin and Freeman DeHart; and two sisters, Adeline D. DeHart and Merline D. Scott. She was a retired co-owner of Gulf Breeze Seafood Company Inc., a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a past member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians. Her hobbies included needlework, crafting, crocheting, traveling and gardening. She especially loved to play bingo and an occasional trip to the casino. It was her unselfish and giving ways that made it easy for her to donate her time to church and its fairs. This held true for her family and friends as well. She was a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be forever missed by all that knew and loved her. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
