Jerry Pat Hughes

Jerry Pat Hughes, 70, a Hughes Springs, Texas, native and Houma resident, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughes Springs Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Cole Hughes of Houma; his mother, Annie Foster Hughes of Hughes Springs, Texas; one son, Jay Hughes and wife, Cris, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Oxford, Miss.; two daughters, Kym Hughes and partner, Kelly Allen, of Dallas, Lauralyn Hughes Welch and husband, Rene "Luc" of Mount Pleasant, Ga.; one sister, Harriette Hughes O’Dell of Keennedale, Texas; two grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Bear. He was preceded in death by his father, Howell Preston Hughes. He was a retired wireline operator with Cameco, where he worked for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
