Joseph Yves "J.Y." Authement, 87, a native of Morgan City and resident of Gibson, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Mar Mae" McIntire Authement of Gibson; one son, Chris Authement of Gibson; four daughters, Joni Broussard of Gulfport, Miss., Carole Duval of Gibson, Fay Kurkjv of Lexington, Ky., and Anne Authement of Gibson; two sisters, Rita Robichaux of Raceland and Norma Trahan of Houma; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Yves Joseph Authement and Adele Avet Authement; one daughter, Margaret "Sister" Rodrigue; one son-in-law, Steve Duval; three brothers, Beattie Authement, Gerald Authement and Roland Authement; and three sisters, Theresa Dedeaux, Beaulah Crappell and Frances Eschete.
He was retired from United Gas Pipeline. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
