Nita Jackson Pettigrew, 89, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Nita Grace Pettigrew, formerly married to Steve Bunnell, Kathleen Pettigrew Womack, formerly married to Brent Womack and Gretchen Pettigrew Murray and husband, Charles Michael Murray; two sons, Ashby W. Pettigrew III and wife, Myra Nichols, and Judge John T. Pettigrew and wife, Linda Senac; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Ashby W. Pettigrew Jr.; her parents, John Campbell Jackson and Laura Pregeant Jackson; one grandson, Michael Thomas Murray; her siblings, Myrtle Marie Jackson and husband, Samuel L. Ayo, Stella Catherine Jackson and husband, Lawrence Jefferson Bueche, Helen Alice Jackson and husband, Rheuben Elster; Earl Henry Jackson and wife, Lena Granger, Randolph Whitney Jackson and wife, Mathilde Babin, Carl Joseph Jackson and wife, Angele Gary and Laura Marie Jackson and husband, Adney J. Hutchinson.
She was a retired legal secretary, a notary public and homemaker.
She was a community activist in Terrebonne Parish and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
