Paul Pontiff Jr.

Paul Gustave Pontiff Jr., 80, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednes-day, Sept. 6, 2006. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maria Duplantis Pontiff; two sons, Kerry Paul Pontiff and wife, Elaine, and James Myles Pontiff; one daughter, Paula Ann Pontiff Poirrier and husband, Wynn Poirrier; one brother, W.J. Pontiff and wife, Georgie; one sister, Marguerite Pontiff Price and husband, Ernest Price; five granddaughters, Dawn Henry and husband, Dustin Henry, Leah Pontiff, Sara Dugas, Julie Pontiff and Angie Dugas; one great-grandson to be born in October 2006 by his first grandchild, Dawn Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily Klingman Pontiff and Paul Pontiff Sr. He was a 1st Class Seaman in the U.S. Navy and honorably discharged in June 1946. He received the Victory Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon One Star, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, USS.Bollinger, USS.LSM.478, USS.APL.26, USS.LCI.(L)654. He was a retiree of Texaco with 35 years of service. After retirement he established "Westside Motors". He owned and operated his used-car dealership from 1975 to 1986. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, family and friends.
