Clarence "Speedy" Joseph DeRoche, Sr., 77, a native and resident of Houma, LA died Monday, March 29, 2010.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Annunziata Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.at Annunziata Catholic Church,
with burial in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Delores "Dee" Rhodes DeRoche, Houma, LA; sons, Clarence "C.J." DeRoche, Jr., Barry J. DeRoche and wife Jackie Malbrough DeRoche, Prentiss "Sonny" Freeman, III and wife Debbie Fryery Freeman;
daughters, Bonnie DeRoche Smith and husband Ordis "Buddy" Smith, III, Dawn DeRoche Henry and husband David Henry, Susan Freeman Vowell and husband Wayne Vowell;
grandchildren, Bradley DeRoche and wife Kacey, Brett DeRoche, Barry M. DeRoche, Bryant DeRoche, Brady DeRoche, Heidi Smith Acosta and husband Marc, Heather Smith, Crystal Lucas Pellegrin and husband Jeremiah, Shaun Lucas, Tricia Freeman, Prentiss "Boo" Freeman, IV, Jody Vowell and wife Angie, Scotty Vowell and wife Kellie, Kevin Vowell, Perry Vowell, Scottie Henry and wife Kelly, Brandon Henry; great grandchildren, William DeRoche, Rebecca DeRoche, Emma Acosta, Quentin Pellegrin, Owen Pellegrin, Asa Freeman, Colin Vowell, Ethan Vowell, Jolie Vowell, Tristen Vowell, Shelby Vowell, Talynn Vowell, Haleigh Henry; sisters, Gladys Crochet DeRoche and Ailene DeRoche Fazzio and his beloved pet Buffy.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent DeRoche and Vena Martin DeRoche; brothers, Duffy DeRoche, Johnny DeRoche, Sydney DeRoche; sisters, June Pinell, Irene Lajaunie; self proclaimed Son: J. Frederick Rivet.
He was a man with a diverse background and many trades at which he would become a master of most.
He will be remembered for his work ethics and never tiring spirit.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Sheriff's Water Patrol, Chamber of Commerce and National Homebuilder's Association.
Speedy was kind, gentle and always hardworking.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend whose home was open to all.
He always knew the right thing to say and left a strong impression on anyone he met.
His passion was his family with whom he shared his wisdom and life lessons and helped create a strong bond for his family that still holds true today.
