Sylvia Patricia “Pat” Flynn, a long time resident of Houma, was called home on March 25, 2010. The daughter of Scotch immigrants, Pat was born in Vancouver, B.C., Aug. 23, 1924 and raised in Detroit, Michigan until moving here to Terrebonne Parish with her husband, the late Dr. John E. Flynn and children in 1954.
Visitation will be from 6-9 on Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8 to 10 on Monday morning with a short memorial and burial at St. Francis de Sales cemetery No. 2, with a bagpiper.
She is survived by one sister, Joannie Plonkey of Detroit, Michigan; five children and their spouses: Dr. Mike Flynn (wife Darlene) Houma, Sharon Richard (husband Henry) Houma, Jeffrey Flynn (wife Susan) Baton Rouge, Dr. Victor Flynn of New Orleans, Jackie McGuire (husband Keith) Houma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Sadie (Wallace) Maguire of Glasgow Scotland, her son PFC Raymond Flynn (Vietnam), husband Dr. John E. Flynn. One brother Victor (Mickey) Maguire and two sisters, Gladys Wiseman and Catherine (Rena) Barkley all former residents of Detroit, Michigan.
Pat was a past president of the Krewe of Hyacinthians. She enjoyed a lifetime enriched with family and friends, devoted to her children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed, yet fondly revered by all whose lives she touched by her special love, wonderful smile and twinkle in her eyes.
