Babette Lewald Babin, 74, a native and resident of Houma, LA died Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10:48 AM. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Services will be Monday, March 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. with burial at Magnolia Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Babin, Sr., Houma, LA; son, Raymond A. Babin, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, James Babin, Laura Babin of Lake Charles, LA; great grandchild, Emma Babin of Lake Charles, LA; sister, Hannah Lewald Babin and husband Gerald Babin, Sr. of Houma, LA; nieces, Mary Hannah Roland, Madeline Warren and Marie Long; nephews, Gerald Paul Babin, Jr., Chris Babin, and Robert Babin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius Louis Lewald and Elvire Pellegrin Lewald. She was the former owner of the Amber Door Antique shop. She was a parishioner St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. She was a past queen of the Krewe of Houmas She volunteered at the Southdown Museum gift shop. She loved to collect antiques but more than anything she loved her family and friends.
