Floyd Joseph Robert, a native and lifelong resident of Chauvin, died Friday, February 19, 2010. He was 75. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chauvin, Louisiana A Mass of Chrisian Burial will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Chauvin, Louisiana. A respected and loved husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Werlin Levron Robert; his three sons, Shawn and wife Monique Robert; Toby Robert; and Floyd Robert and wife Laura; one daughter Risa and husband Tim Mueller; his grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Mueller, Samuel, Hannah and Rebekah Robert and Landon Robert; three sisters, Judith Duplantis and husband Gerald of Chauvin; Norma Thurman and husband Don of Conroe, Texas and Marilyn Ammons and husband Al, of Miami, Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theophile and Hilda LeBlanc Robert, and one brother, Gary Robert. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent many years on the open water as a commercial fisherman, and in what free time he had, on the same waters for the pure enjoyment of it. He was fiercely independent, a strong believer in looking for and finding solutions to problems large and small. His solid work ethic, attention to detail and sense of humor are his legacy to his family. He was our captain. He was greatly loved. He will be missed.
