Franklin Dayton

Franklin Arthur Dayton, 93, died Monday, August 1, 2016  at 07:10 AM. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY and resident of Houma, LA. A Memorial Service will be held on  Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. He is survived by his, Son, Peter Arthur Dayton and wife, Deborah P. Dayton;  Daughters, Joann Dayton Shorkley and husband, Jay, Janis Lafont and companion, Dennis Forgash,  and Joyce M. Dayton and companion, Charles "Buddy" Hill; Grandchildren, Jason Shorkley, Justin Shorkley, Tonya Dayton Odle, Carrie D. Spurgeon, Kevin Dayton, Douglas Lafont, Claire Johns,  Chad Waalk and Megan Hawthorne; and eleven great-grandchildren,  He was preceded in death by his, Wife Ruth Dayton; Parents, Arthur Dayton and Leah Mottern Dayton; Sister, Norma Bordt; and three great grandchildren. Franklin was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired as a Naval Pilot with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a member of the Masonic Unity Lodge # 267. Franklin was a native of New York and in 1955 accepted a position as a pilot for Texaco. He enjoyed golf and square dancing. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Unity Lodge No. 267 F & A.M.  Dyslexia Classroom for Children or the Alzheimer’s Association.  Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dayton family.
