Jewel Smith Songe, 84, a native of Mart, Texas, and resident of Houma, died at 1:56 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009.
A memorial service will be at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on La. 311 in Houma.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Songe Cunningham and husband, Steve Cunningham, of Bourg; one brother, Kenneth Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Dot Brenner of Fort Worth; one grandchild, Brandon Cunningham and wife, Lynette Cunningham; and two great-grandchildren, Trey Coy Cunningham and Braelyn Janae Cunningham.
She was preceded in death by her husband E.J. Songe; her parents, Walter Vernon and Stella Eula Holder Smith; one brother, O.W. Smith; and three sisters, Louise Scoggins, Mae Breed Love and Mildred Collier.
She was a cosmetologist and property manager and a member of Jehovah’s Witness for 67 years.
