Gilbert Jude Duplantis, 68, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 03:20 AM. He was a native of Houma, LA and resident of Bourg, LA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 9:00am to service time. at St. Ann Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial: St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years; Shirley Benoit Duplantis; one daughter, Tammy Duplantis Gauthier and husband Chad Gautheir; one son, Gilbert "Gil" Duplantis Jr.; one grandson, Rich Battise and wife Nina Battise; two granddaughters, Lacey and Casey Battise; three brothers, Luke Duplantis Jr., Charles Duplantis, and James "Jimmy" Duplantis and wife Margie Duplantis; and three sisters, Carolyn Brunet, Janice Duplantis, Janet Duplantis Pellegrin and husband Willie Pellegrin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Rita Mae Blanchard Duplantis; his father, Luke Joseph Duplantis; two brothers, Johnny and David Duplantis; one son-in-law, Richard Battise Jr. He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, LA. He was employed by McDermott for 40 something years, thus retiring. He loved hunting and also loved his horses. He was a loving husband, a loving father, a loving Paw Paw, loving brother, and a loving friend to all.
