Mary Frances Prevost Celestin, 89, a native and resident of Gibson, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial at Mount Pilgrim Cemetery.
She is survived by her four daughters, Audrey C. Elder and husband, George, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara C. Harrison of New Orleans, Rose C. Pitre of Gibson and Judy C. Gobert and husband, Michael, of Orange, Texas; three sons, Wesley Celestin and wife, Brenda, Ronald Celestin and wife, Gwendolyn, of Gibson, and Dwight Celestin and wife, Rosie, of Orange; her sister, Lena Carrol of New Orleans; her brother, Myles Prevost of Sun City, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, spiritual children, grandchildren and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Celestin Sr.; her parents, Isaac and Frances Matthews Provost; four sons, Joseph Celestin Jr., Donald Royal Celestin, Fredrick Celestin and Calvert James Celestin; four sisters, Ethel Brisco, Velma Brown, Ophelia Turner and Equila Williams; two brothers, Wesley and Norris Prevost; and her grandchild, Treva Monet Pitre.
She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
