Robert Oliver Nugent, 90, a native of Gold Dust, former resident of Lafayette and resident of Houma, died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Girouard Nugent; two sons, William Nugent and wife, Dianna, and Clyde Nugent and wife, Melissa; two daughters, Myra Regan and husband, Harley, and Carol Fay Briley and husband, Todd; five grandchildren, Amanda Hastings, Patrick Nugent, Kellie Nugent, Olivia Nugent and Alexa Nugent; and three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Nugent, Andrew Nugent and Paige Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Matthew Nugent and Lise Morrison Nugent; one brother, Philip M. Nugent; and four sisters, Aline Butcher, Myrtle Bear, Elizabeth DeRoussell and Eloise Mitchell.
Prior to his retirement, he was a production foreman for 38 years for Superior Oil Co.
He was a World War II Air Corps combat veteran, serving in the invasion of southern France and a member of the National Glider Pilots Association.
