Bernice Babin Bergeron

Bernice Babin Bergeron, 90, a native of Chacahoula and resident of Houma, died Friday, October 17, 2008. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales No. 1 Cemetery. She is survived by three sons, James Bergeron and wife, Shirley, Robert Bergeron and wife, Mavis, and Ralph Bergeron; two daugh-ters, Jane Bergeron Portier and husband, Daniel Portier Sr., and June Bergeron Rozands and hus-band, Charlton; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Bergeron Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Modest Olivier Babin; one son, Alvin Ber-geron Jr; one brother, Youance Babin; and two sisters, Eunice Usie and Gussie Guilfour. She was a retired packer for Southdown Sugar and a parish-ioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
