Richard John Molaison Sr., 86, a native of Algiers and longtime resident of Houma, died Saturday, June 21, 2008.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Molaison of Houma; five sons, Richard Molaison Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Kingwood, Texas, Craig Molaison of Lafayette, Roger Molaison and wife, Brandi, of Kingwood, John Molaison and wife, Chris, of Bourg and Bryan Molaison and wife, Kathleen, of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and close friends, Pam Kelly and Bridget Enoch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Molaison and Hattie Sevin Molaison.
He attended Warren Easton High School, Tulane University and South Louisiana Business College. He joined the U.S. Marines at age 17 and served for six years in the South Pacific during World War II with the Striking 6th Marine Division. He retired from Pennzoil after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Marine Corp League, American Legion, National Rifle Association and Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by his wife and family.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
