Charles Portier

Charles Edmund Portier, 78, a native and resident of Houma, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sampay Portier of Houma; six sons, Charles "Chuck" Portier and wife, Theresa, of Broussard, Blair Portier and wife, Sue, Kent Portier, Ricky Portier, Steven Portier and wife, Kaci, and Kirk Portier and wife, Chrystal; two brothers, Phillip Portier of Houma and Daniel Portier of California; five sisters, Maybelle Antill of Gibson, Marion Wunstell, Betty Anselmi, Margaret Pellegrin and Alice Duplantis of Houma; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonce Portier and Haydee Jarveaux Portier; one son, Errol Joseph Portier; and three brothers, Leonce "L.J." Portier Jr., Donald Portier and Fay Portier. He was self-employed of Charles Motor Service and was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.
