Janette Cheramie

Janette Benoit Cheramie passed of natural causes Thursday, September 27, 2012. Mrs. Cheramie, 87, a native of Grand Calliou and a long time resident of Houma, found pleasure in gardening and the beauty of nature. She loved taking her young children fishing around the Houma area as well as to the beach on Grand Isle. Through the years she enjoyed working in arts and crafts. Her strong faith was a very important part of her life and brought her comfort in her long illness. Visitation will be held on from at Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 12:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 She is survived by her son Bertoul J. Cheramie III and wife Joan of Covington, a daughter, Sonja-Lee Pollino and husband Anthony of Richmond Hill, GA. A Brother Melvin Benoit Sr. and wife Blackie of Dulac, LA, three sisters; Junietta Buquet, Irene Boudreaux and husband Delvin, Mae Francis Fanguy, all of Houma, LA, six Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Benoit and Corinne Luke Benoit, her husband Bertoul "Tut" Joseph Cheramie Jr., her Brother Myron "Tom" Benoit, her sister Gladys Benoit. She was a member of Living Word Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
