Marie Foolkes Hamilton, 87, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home.
Liturgy of the Word will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home, with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.
She is survived by three sons, Harvie Douglas Hamilton Jr. and wife Susan of Houma; Gordon Edmund Hamilton of Princeton, Texas, and Randolph Louis Hamilton and partner Ronald Steward of Suwanee, Ga.; one daughter, Susie Bergeron and husband Peter of Suwanee; one brother, John E. Foolkes of Houma; two sisters, Helena Word of Austin, Texas, and May LeBoeuf of Houma; seven grandchildren, Kayla Bergeron, Dr. Hal Bergeron, Liesl Bergeron, Harvie Hamilton III, Robert Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, and Rachel Hamilton; eight great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Bergeron, Renee Bergeron, Chloe Bergeron, Michael Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Logan Hamilton, Riley Hamilton and Cade Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvie D. Hamilton; her parents, Edmund John Foolkes and Blanche Chauvin Foolkes; one grandson, Peter Bergeron Jr.; and one sister, Blanche Herron.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and a member of the Hyacinthians Carnival Club.
She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
