Gareth James Rhodes, Sr., 84, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 7:50 AM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 8:00 AM until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will begin at 10:00 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Terrebonne Memorial. He is survived by his, wife, Glenda Foret Rhodes, children, Gareth "Cookie" Rhodes, Jr., Chris Rhodes, Craig Rhodes, Cynthia "Cindy" Rhodes Luke, step children, Tommye Jean Freeze, Harvey Freeze, Harlan Freeze, Darryl Freeze, Billy Freeze, Tarrell "Boogie" Freeze, grandchildren, Jeremy Rhodes, Jennifer Rhodes, Ciara Smith, Madeline Brown, Chanel Billiot, Beau Gareth Robichaux, Tasha Freeze, Jesse Freeze, Dara Arabie, Ebony Freeze, Shannon Bruebacker, Chris Freeze, Kayla Freeze, Kirah Freeze, Cohen Luke and Colin Luke, and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his, parents, Edmond Rhodes, Sr. and Cynthia Talbot Rhodes, son, Ronald "Ronnie" Rhodes, grandson, Joshua Freeze, brother, Edmond Rhodes, Jr. and sister, Carmen Rhodes Hannah. He retired from Mobil Oil after 43 years as a Safety Systems Specialist. He served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting and dancing.
