John Howard Sontheimer, 87, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 . He was a native of St. Joseph, MO and resident of Schriever, LA. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 9:00 AM until Service time at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Entombment: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 He is survived by his, wife, Diane Wilson Sontheimer; Children, Dr. Richard Sontheimer and wife Liz of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; Kent V. Sontheimer and wife Marietta of Houma, LA; Nikki S. Amberg and husband Fred of Tempe, AZ and John Eric Sontheimer of Houma, LA; Grandchildren, Sophia, Andrew, and Samuel Sontheimer, Tyler Diane and Jessica Amberg, Dr. C.J. Sontheimer, Kristin Collins and Erin Madsen; and Great grandchildren, Sabrina and John Collins and Troy and Colt Madsen. He was preceded in death by his, Parents Goley Sontheimer and Mary Lou Sollars Sontheimer; Brothers, Goley D. Sontheimer and Harold Sontheimer; and Sisters, Anita Reinert, Bessie Habert and Dottie Herbold A loving husband and dedicated father and grandfather, Mr. John was one of Houma’s true gentlemen who never met anyone he didn’t call a friend. He spent his life helping others, not because he had to but because he wanted to. He touched many lives during his tenure here on Earth, and his legacy will be the lessons in selflessness he taught by how he lived his life and treated others. Mr. John was the owner and founder of SONOCO – Sontheimer Offshore/ Catering Company.
