David LeCompte

David John LeCompte, 79, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 12:00 PM. He was a native of Bourg, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Friday, May 25, 2012 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his, wife, June Chauvin LeCompte, son, Reverend Glenn LeCompte, daughters, Ann LeCompte Bizette and husband Dr. Greg Bizette and Susan LeCompte Ledet and husband Jerry Ledet, Jr., grandchildren, Breanne Bizette, Grant Bizette and Emily Ledet, sister in law, Emelda LeCompte, brother in law, Norris Ledet. He was preceded in death by his, parents, Wallace LeCompte and Louise Bonvillain LeCompte, brothers, Alden LeCompte, Sr., Roland LeCompte, Sr., sisters, Mae LeCompte Lirette, Yvonne LeCompte, Betty LeCompte Ledet. David was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church where he was a lector and parish volunteer. He was a Marine Superintendent for 2R Drilling Company for 36 years. He served in the United States Air Force as Airman 1st Class during the Korean War and played tackle and end for the special services football team. He was an avid sports fan and was instrumental in setting up the sports program for St. Joseph Catholic High School in Chauvin. He was a former member of The Knights of Columbus Council at St. Joseph Church in Chauvin, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
