Catherine Baker

Catherine Rogers Baker, 76, born in the family home on Gouaux Avenue in Houma, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Visitation will be on Monday, April 9 from 4 p.m. until funeral time at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Bishop Sam Jacobs will preside over the Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. with Fr. Jay Baker as celebrant. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 in Houma. She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Harry O. Baker; 2 sons, Steve of New Orleans and Fr. Jay of Thibodaux; her daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Andy Cook of Kingwood, Texas; her grandchildren, Erin, Ryan, Caitlyn, & Kyle Donegan and their parents, Jeannie & Milton, all of Thibodaux. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Cornelia (nee Cenac) & Nolan Rogers and her dear sister, Fannie. Catherine was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales Academy and a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. She was member of the Terrebonne Garden Club, was dedicated to her exercise groups at the “Y,” and was a shark at cards with “Grace’s Girls” and others. In lieu of flowers at this time, the family requests donations to the St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society for flowers throughout the year in her memory.
