Elgin "Gene" Joseph Ledet, a native of Montegut and resident of Haslet, Texas, passed away on Friday, Feb.10, 2012.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with interment immediately following in the church cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Gayle Ann Ledet Hebert and husband, Cecil, of Maurice and Faye Ann Ledet Bartley and husband, Doug, of Haslet, Texas; six grandchildren, Blair Hebert and wife, Michelle, Laury Hebert Rush and husband, John, Trent Hebert and Leah, Rusty Bartley and wife, April, Randy Bartley and wife, Kristyn, and Bonnie Bartley Parker and husband, Brandon; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Brien Ledet; son, Don Joseph Ledet; and parents, Marius Ledet and Lucille Crochet Ledet.
Mr. Ledet was a 2nd Lt. Air Corp officer during World War II and a B25 pilot in the 11th Air Force, 77th Bomb Squadron. While in combat, he was stationed at Attu, part of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. His awards include Air Medal with one cluster, Asiatic Pacific ribbon with one cluster and the Presidential Citation ribbon. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers and Masses, the family request that donations be made to the American Heart Association for those who suffer from heart disease.
