Rene Porche

Rene Anthony Porche, 77, a native of Bayou Dularge and resident of Houma, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. Rene is survived by his wife of 18 years, Gloria Chauvin Breaux Porche of Houma; son, Jared Porche and Mary Picou; six daughters, Susan and John Almaraz, Renee' and Roland Gros, Peggy and Ernie Bergeron, Patricia and Craig Hebert, Leslie and Randy Breaux, and Toni Porche and Josh Frickey; four stepchildren, Melinda Breaux, Kenneth and Kristi Breaux, James and Lynn Breaux, and Michael and Laura Breaux; 14 grandchildren, Wendy Kaupp, Stacie Jamieson, Joshua Chaisson, Jennifer Comardelle, Eric Gros, Christy Breaux, Tyler Hebert, Kerwin Guidry, Blair Breaux, Brandon Breaux, Alexis Arceneaux, Brody Porche, Madison Porche and Carson Porche; six step-grandchildren, Angela Evans, Tiffany Evans, Steven Ramsey, Jeremy Breaux, Jacob Breaux and Lauren Breaux; 10 great-grandchildren, Gage and Drake Eunice, Saige and Skyler Jamieson, Hailey Comardelle, Eric Jr., Kaden and Kallie Gros, and Sydney and Alivia Breaux; brother, Gerald Porche; and sisters, Mary Jude Trahan and Joan Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand Joseph Porche Sr. and Jeanne Aycock Porche; one brother, Armand "A.J." Porche; two sisters, Bobbie Lee Fonseca and Mary Jane Hebert; three grandchildren, Lea Breaux, Timothy Hebert and John Jessie Almaraz; and stepdaughter, Marlene Breaux Evans. He was a retired barge superintendent for McDermott, where he worked for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
