Kenneth Patrick Duplantis , 71, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 9:15 AM. He was a native of Houma, LA and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and
Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Kenneth "Kajun Ken" Duplantis is survived by his mother Aline Duplantis of Houma LA, two sons Harvey Bertinot of Houma LA and
Kenneth Duplantis Jr of Houma LA, daughter Kendra Duplantis and companion Gary Landry of Houma LA, one brother Aaron Duplantis Jr and wife Cynthia of Gray LA, three sisters Justilia "Sister" Cancienne and husband Rudy of Houma LA
Yvonne Redden and husband Wayne of Houma LA
Kathleen Hebert and husband Lynn of Houma LA, six grandchildren Meagan Bertinot, Madison Bertinot, Jace Duplantis, Mackensie Duplantis, Khai Duplantis, and Devin Duplantis, one great grandson Johnny Fonseca. He is also survived by close friends Paul Girior,Nell Davis, Pat Perkins, Conrad Picou, and Harvey John Bertinot.
Kenneth Duplantis was preceeded in death by his father Aaron Duplantis Sr.
He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He founded Eastway Seafood in 1977 which he operated for many years. He was also associated with several other restaurants in the Houma area, such as Eastway West, and Kajun Kens Seafood. He attended Nicholls State University and was a veteran of the United States Army, acting as an interpreter of several languages. Kenneth, known as "Kajun Ken" to friends and family was an avid gardener and outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was most at home at his beloved camp. He will be sadly missed by family and friends alike.... Not so much by the ducks and fish in and around Bayou Sevin.
