Harriet Pellegrin

Harriet Duplantis Pellegrin, 75, a native of Chauvin and resident of Houma, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Annunziata Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Pellegrin Sr.; six sons, Donald Pellegrin Jr. and wife, Elvina "Mickey", Duane Pellegrin and fiancee, Donna, Frank Pellegrin and wife, Kathy, Gregg Pellegrin and wife, Faith, Peter Pellegrin and wife, Jeanette, and Jeffery Pellegrin and wife, Uma; two daughters, Suzanne Samocki and husband, Peter, and Marguerite Pellegrin; three brothers, Donald Duplantis, Emery Duplantis Jr. and wife, Cathy, and Wayne Duplantis and wife, Gloria; three sisters, Alice Elliot, Joyce Matherne and Elaine Labit and husband, Roy; and 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery Duplantis Sr. and Valerie Dubois Duplantis; her stepmother, Helen Charpentier Duplantis; her grandparents, Elie and Malazie Theriot DuBois and Elie and Victoria Duplantis Duplantis; and two brothers-in-law, George "Ducky" Elliot and Harry Matherne. She was a parishioner of Annunziata Parish and worked for 40 years as Parish Secretary before retiring earlier this year. Her work at the church was an integral part of her life and more a labor of love than a job. She was a member of the Annunziata Church Ladies Altar Society and taught religious education at the church. She was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout mom. She was a member and secretary of the Annunziata Parish Council. She loved her family, her church and her God. She will be sorely missed.
