Bernard Breaux

d. August 2, 2011

Bernard Fedless Breaux, Sr., 94, died peacefully of cardiac arrest on Tuesday, August 2. Visitation will begin on Saturday, August 6, at 9:30 AM through 11:00 AM. The mass service will be at 11:00 AM. Both will be held at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Interment will be at St. Francis de Sales #1 Cemetery. He is survived by his four children, Elise St. Julien Breaux Wise (Lisette) and husband Stephen, Bernard Fedless Breaux, Jr., Margaret Louise St. Julien Breaux Fazzio (Louise) and Eleanor St. Julien Breaux Wurzlow (Cette) and husband Billy. Also, he is survived by one sister, Myriam Breaux Winders and sister in law, Joyce Tregre Breaux. Preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret Louise “Bim” St. Julien Breaux and one son, Roy St. Julien Breaux. His parents were Dr. Clayton Breaux and Victoire Marmande Breaux. He was a descendent of two of Houma’s oldest families: Breaux and Marmande. Mr. Breaux was a graduate of LSU and a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a Legislative auditor until his retirement, after which he worked for area public agencies. He will be remembered as a charismatic person, and a wonderful storyteller. His many friends and family loved hearing stories of old Houma and its residents, Houma’s history, Louisiana politics and people he’d known. He was of the Catholic faith and a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. The family gives special thanks to his wonderful caretakers, Florence Champagne, Patricia “Kim” Hebert, Susan Billiot and her daughter Courtney Ledet. Instead of flowers, Mr. Breaux requested donations be made to K.I.M.’s Playhouse Museum for Children, 420 Lake Crescent Circle, Houma, Louisiana 70360 or Vandebilt Catholic High School.
